Honor Guard Heimerzheim - more than 40 years commitment to the carnival in Swisttal
1974
In 1974, nine young men founded the Honorary Guard Heimerzheim as the first and to this day the only honor guard in Swisttal. They received energetic support from the then board of the Great Heimerzheim Carnival Society Anno 1955 eV, because they promised themselves by the new formation an accompanying uniformed guard for Heimerzheimer Tollitäten.
Founding members were:
Josef Hambach * Franz George Hambach * Adolf Hambach
Reinhold Bäumer * Hans Bert Zock * Alois Kessel
Hans Josef Kessel * Willi Euskirchen * Willi Rupperath
1975
In the second year of its existence, the honor guard in the 1975 session already participated with 15 guards on their first Rose Monday parade - though in borrowed uniforms, because there was no time and money for their own. The first prince couple, who was accompanied by the Heimerzheim Honor Guard, were Prince Hans-Walter I and Princess Ingrid I. (Flink). The task of the honor guard consisted since that time in the accompaniment of the prince couple by the carnival session and in the support of the large Heimerzheimer Carnival society Anno 1955.
1976
In the third year finally own uniforms were purchased. It is rumored that the honor guard for design was found in the fund of the Bonn Opera House. A bright red and a bright blue set off with lots of gold. Yes, we want to attract attention! Since then, our uniform is still in use today in largely unchanged form. It's our "club uniform" and every guardsman wears it proudly through the carnival session.
1977
From today's point of view, of course, but then new: from 1977, the membership in the Honor Guard Heimerzheim also for female carnivaljecken possible. Six young women joined the formation in the year. And of course, ... they enriched the Guard very much.
In the same year, the honor guard participated for the first time actively in the carriage construction for the Rosenmontagszug. As befitted for guards, a covered wagon was built, which was then used to accompany Prince Henry II and Princess Margret I (Düx) appropriately on the train.
1978
New territory for the guardsmen: For the first time the honorary guard Heimerzheim performed at the splendid meeting of the Great Heimerzheim Carnival Society Anno in 1955 with a dance. What a success! This premiere made the honor guard in the Heimerzheimer population correctly known and established the later dance corps. Today, the dance guard consists of the cadet corps, which perform their guard and show dances at many events in Heimerzheim and the community Swisttal.
1979-1984
The Honor Guard consolidates its reputation in the Heimerzheim Carnival and is growing steadily. Every year, it becomes more present in the Heimerzheimer Rosenmontagszug - always in the company of the prince couple in the session.
1985
The first step towards a family club: Heimerzheim, the honorary guard, hosted the children's and youth carnival in Heimerzheim for the first time. The children's session was organized in the auditorium of the (today's) Georg-von-Boeselager School with a lot of fun and was well received by young and old. For the bigger ones a "youth disco" was organized. The children's meeting since then aligns the honor guard continuously every year. The attraction is unbroken. In the meantime, the children of that time come with their own children, so that sometimes three generations celebrate together with us. Carnival is a family thing! And that's what the honor guard stands for as a family club.
1986 - 1995
The honor guard continues to establish itself with its events in the Heimerzheimer Carnival. Year after year, the club grows, enthusiastically spreading the Rhineland customs.
1996
The men of the honor guard make a massive impact on the dance scene. Since the fall of 1995, they practiced the legendary "Stippefötsche" dance. The sweat poured in, they entered with the dancing parquet completely new territory. At the splendid meeting of the Great Heimerzheim Carnival Society Anno in 1955, this dance was first presented to the public with thunderous applause. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to continue this tradition without interruption. But it will come to a fresh start! In the session 2019/2020 we risk the restart. Let yourself be surprised!
1997 - today
Due to the increasing number of members, the honor guard has become a well-regarded association in the region and an integral part of the Heimerzheimer Carnival. This means continuing in the future, so that the Rhenish customs are maintained and preserved.
